Summer of Plenty
I'd like to take 10 minutes here to make some excuses about my chronic lack of posts over the last half-month or so.
It's not my fault. Really.
First off I'd like to pass blame to the fresh fruit.
That's right. The fresh fruit have been hampering my writing with their succulent allure.
Watermelons that put the melons in the States to shame. Deep maroon red, small black seeds and often splitting open, chock full of sweetness. The lychees, those incredible lychees. Little lizard skin covered orbs begging to be squeezed open, spilling out their smooth milky colored flesh. The four kinds of peaches here, some green and fuzzy, others chartreuse with a flame red tip - all more than willing to send a trickle of juice down your chin. Apricots - something I was never a huge fan of - pulled in clean halves off their dark brown pit, upstaging even the most delicious apple. Their golden orange speckled with bits of green and smelling oh so heavenly.
Don't even get me started on the sweet melon squash, the nectarines or the pineapple.
Secondly, I have been busy earning a bit of cash on the side. Life is cheap, but being a high roller ain't easy. That has meant a second job. I've filled that spot with a great job - toothpaste tester.
Third, there is the weather. It's getting right hot and that makes me pretty ornery. Not exactly the mood to write something, certainly nothing of quality (don't take that to mean that there is writing of any quality available here, just saying).
So there you have it.
I know - I just spent 10 minutes on excuses when I could have been writing something of more substance. I'll chalk that up as the fourth reason.
A healthy dose of asinine traits.
